Bio
Let me introduce you to Suzy La Follette:
Suzy La Follette is a powerful voice of the working class, a brilliant feminist and queer activist, her words leap from the stage through her vibrant performance. She is pure rock n’ roll poetry as her subject matter ranges from underground politics to raunchy hilarity. It has been said that she can spit a poem through a brick wall and she has. She has been featured on ABC, NPR and the Best of Urbana 2004. She has toured the country in the past two years performing at Universities, Take Back the Night, LadyFest, Prides, smoky bars and poetry slams and shared the stage with the likes of Diane Di Prima and Billy Collins. She placed 6th in the Nation at Chicago National Poetry Slam 2003.
She says, “It’s time that we snap out of the daze we live in, turn off the TV and become in tune with our surroundings. Educating ourselves about reality is a social responsibility.”
She is a political, poetic warrior that will make you laugh, cry and infinitely change you. She silences audiences with her wit and extraordinary performance. Taylor Mali, the President of Poetry Slam Inc. says, “If you are searching for truth, listen. You will find it in Suzy La Follette.”
